Marketplace Movers: July 2026

In July on the athenahealth marketplace, 140 companies added customers, 38 lost them, and 373 held flat. That works out to roughly 3.7 gainers for every decliner, and a net gain of 595 customer connections across the marketplace. For the second month in a row, most of Phreesia’s growth arrived in a condensed window rather than accruing. Set that 33-customer step aside and organic net growth was 562 connections.

Top gainers by volume, athena marketplace, July 2026: Phreesia +44 (1,186 customers), Weave +30 (62), Labcorp +27 (645), Parachute Health +16 (208), Fullscript +15 (714). Most of Phreesia's gain landed in a single step.

Most customers added

Phreesia topped the list for the second consecutive month. And for the second consecutive month, most of those connections came in a single step. I’ll be listening to their next earnings call to see if I can figure out what is driving these jumps.

Weave almost doubled their footprint in July, going from 32 to 62 customers. The prior month they went from 7 to 32 customers. They offer a suite of patient communication tools and tie in with the office’s phone system. This could be a case of enterprise sales bringing in big connection numbers, or it could be they’ve found product market fit and we’ll be seeing a lot more of them on these lists.

Labcorp increased adoption of their app, which is free to practices that send their patients to Labcorp labs. This will keep growing until it reaches a natural saturation. Notably, the Quest app has not seen similar growth.

Parachute Health is back on the volume gainers list with their DME ordering platform. Their narrow wedge of focusing on DME ordering rather than wider inventory management is paying off. Similar to Fullscript below, it is free for the practice while also solving an active problem they have. A recipe for success.

Fullscript continues to find more practices who want it to be easy to prescribe more than what is behind the counter at the pharmacy. They have started offering care plans, expanding what providers can do on their app. Since the app is free, we don't know how many providers are actually using it.

Top gainers by percent, athena marketplace, July 2026: Weave +93.8% (62 customers), Pretty Good AI +38.1% (29), Valerie Health +25.0% (15), Stellar Health +23.1% (64), Superscript +18.8% (38).

Fastest growth

Weave had the fastest growth as mentioned above.

Pretty Good AI took the number two spot, growing by 38.1% in July. Their voice AI offerings have traction in the market and now we’re seeing them scale. athena's promise of native AI voice features hasn't pushed practice leaders into wait-and-see mode. They want KPIs to improve from AI today.

Valerie Health grew by a quarter with its AI referral management service. Referrals are key for specialty practices and athena caters to independent specialty practices, so Valerie has found a good audience for their offering. This is a place where we'll see the dial turn from outsourced humans doing the work, to AI doing the work. I'll be keeping an eye on Valerie and their cool logo.

Stellar Health netted 12 new customers for their care gap closure solution. Economists will love this one as providers are given micro rewards for each care gap they close. I’ve heard it is free to providers because payers want them to close care gaps, but interestingly that is not mentioned on their marketplace page. Apps that are free tend to perform well, so I’ll be on the lookout to see if they add that tidbit to their marketplace page.

Superscript grew 18.8%, bringing their total connection count to 38 customers. Full disclosure: Superscript is a past client. They calculate how much a patient will owe for a particular visit and collect that money up front. This can take self-pay DAR to negative numbers, reducing the number of patient statements and bad debt/collections adjustments. Their interface adds nice touches for end users. I expect we’ll see them on this list again.

Methodology

Customer counts pulled from the athena marketplace 23 times between June 30 and August 3. Minimum starting base of 10 customers to qualify for the rankings. Mirrored listings from the same company are collapsed into one row, and one renamed listing was matched to its prior entry rather than counted as a new debut.

One housekeeping note: four listings (IC System, Welby Health, Clarion, and Sonio) went from showing zero connections all year to displaying a full customer bases on July 24. I suspect that's existing customers becoming visible, not July adoption, so all four are excluded from the rankings. If I had included them, IC System would be the month's top gainer at +78.
